In 2021, I participated in the Artlist & Artgrid Edit Challenge hosted by Artlist.io, a thrilling opportunity for creators to showcase their storytelling skills using Artgrid stock footage and Artlist royalty-free music. The challenge invited participants to craft a short video in one of three categories—Fictional Ad (up to 30 seconds), Movie Trailer (up to 1:30 minutes), or Music Video (up to 3:30 minutes)—with the chance to win a share of $75,000 in filmmaking gear, including Blackmagic Pocket 4K cameras, Zhiyun gimbals, and Nanlite lighting kits. As a videographer passionate about pushing creative boundaries, I was excited to leverage Artlist’s high-quality assets to bring my vision to life while competing against over 1,600 submissions judged by industry leaders like Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia.
For my entry, I chose the Movie Trailer category, crafting a gripping 1:30-minute fictional trailer that blended dramatic Artgrid footage with a haunting Artlist track to create an immersive sci-fi narrative. I focused on seamless editing and sound design to build tension, incorporating subtle visual effects to enhance the futuristic atmosphere, all while adhering to the contest’s requirement to use only Artlist and Artgrid assets. The process was a fantastic learning experience, allowing me to refine my editing techniques and experiment with storytelling in a competitive setting, further solidifying my passion for creating impactful content at ProjectHector.
If you have a design project in mind or would like to discuss a collaboration, I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out to me at any time.
Check out the dope song I selected to use on this video! Hauling at the Moon!!
