Studio & Broadcasting Production

Fast-paced community event to high-end commercial production Canon 5DS R, Canon 7D, and a broadcast-quality Canon CX-10 video camera—I am able to capture both dynamic stills and cinematic footage, providing the client with pristine, high-impact assets that command attention across social media and promotional channels.

Client: Local Retail Shopping Center / 99.1 FM California

Role: Lead Photographer & Talent Director

Location:Retail Store Floor (Pop-up Stage), California

Gear: Canon 7D | Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM

        The Scenario: High-Traffic Retail Environment

This session was captured during a live Mother’s Day promotional event, hosted by the local 99.1 FM radio station. Unlike a controlled studio environment, this shoot took place directly on the retail clothing store floor. This presented unique challenges: a fast-moving crowd, a mix of fluorescent overhead store lights, and a temporary stage setup with industrial-style scaffolding as the backdrop.

Technical Execution: The Power of the 70-200mm

To combat the busy visual environment of a shopping mall, I utilized the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L pro lens.

        • Compression & Bokeh: By shooting at the longer end of the focal range (150mm–200mm), I was able to compress the background, effectively "blurring out" the retail distractions and keeping the focus entirely on the model and the apparel.
        • Low-Light Performance: The constant f/2.8 aperture allowed me to maintain a fast shutter speed to freeze the models' movements despite the store's challenging lighting conditions.
        • Sharpness: The 7D and L-series glass combination ensured that every detail—from the intricate floral patterns to the textures of the Kentucky Derby-style millinery—was captured with commercial-grade clarity.

Directing Talent & Finding the Angle

Success in fashion photography isn't just about the gear; it's about the connection with the model. In a live event setting, models can often feel stiff. My role was to provide rapid, confident direction to find the "hero angles" for each look.

        • Posing for Silhouette: For the striped jumpsuits and velvet sets, I focused on high-contrast posing to accentuate the lines of the clothing against the scaffolding.
        • Natural Expression: By engaging with the talent, I moved beyond standard catalog poses to capture authentic, high-fashion expressions that reflect the "Wake Up Beautiful" ethos.
        • Dynamic Angles: I utilized various heights and perspectives to ensure the models appeared statuesque and empowered, regardless of the temporary stage’s height.

        Wake Up Beautiful

My Role: Brand Identity, Logo Design, Marketing Collateral

Client Profile: Brandi, CEO of Wake Up Beautiful.

Project Scope: Comprehensive branding and lifestyle photography across multiple venues, incorporating sponsored attire for Rent a Runway.

Technical Specs: Shot exclusively on the Canon 5DS R, utilizing a mix of natural ambient light and portable studio strobe kits.

Primary Use Case: CEO social media content, brand identity promotion, website visuals, and 'Outfit of the Day' (OOTD) styling for Rent a Runway.

        Overview: Crafting the CEO Persona

The core of this project was to move beyond traditional headshots and create a dynamic, accessible, and sophisticated visual identity for the CEO of a successful beauty brand. The goal was twofold: to humanize the leadership position of 'Wake Up Beautiful' and simultaneously showcase the versatility of the apparel from Rent a Runway. This required a curated approach to environmental storytelling and precise lighting.

        The Locations: Strategic Environment Choice

        1. The Living Room (Indoor Comfort) A comfortable, residential setting was chosen to establish an initial sense of 'everyday luxury.' Here, the soft-box light was feathered with ambient window light to create a relaxed, warm tone, emphasizing 'beauty from within.' Brandi's interactions with her yellow Labrador Retriever added a powerful, personal touch, making her CEO persona highly relatable. Featured OOTD: Red cocktail dress.

        2. The Renaissance Club Sport Lobby (Indoor Exclusivity) To transition from comfort to sophistication, the exclusive, member-only lobby of the Renaissance Club Sport was utilized. This location, with its strong architectural lines and dramatic, color-wash ambient lighting (vibrant blues), provided the perfect contrast. The challenge was balancing the 5DS R’s exposure to retain the ambient atmosphere while using a focused snoot on the portable light to make the subject pop against the complex background. This environment screamed 'modern leadership.' Featured OOTD: Sophisticated all-black two-piece suit with shoulder cutouts.

        3. The Backyard & Garden Walk (Outdoor Lifestyle) The backyard provided two distinct looks:

        • A relaxed patio scene against a lush green artificial hedge, perfect for 'at-home leisure' lifestyle shots.
        • An intricate garden pathway under a pergola covered in climbing greenery. This setting, with its deep shadows and dappled light, was ideal for dramatic, depth-of-field portraits that highlighted textural details. Featured OOTD: Camo joggers and striped crop top (backyard), Navy blue ruffled two-piece (garden).

        4. The Scenic Overlook & Park (Public Branding) Finally, photos at a scenic overlook against a backdrop of distant hills and beside her white Porsche provided classic branding moments. This transition from natural park lighting to controlled environment photography demonstrated the range. Featured OOTD: Pink sweater with patterned trousers.
